GLLT
Greater Lovell Land Trust
The Greater Lovell Land Trust (GLLT) is a nationally accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1985, dedicated to preserving the ecosystems of the Kezar Lake, Kezar River, and Cold River watersheds for people and wildlife now and into the future . Through a blend of land ownership and conservation easements, GLLT has protected thousands of acres—over 5,700 owned and more than 2,700 acres added recently along the Kezar River corridor—creating vital habitat corridors, wetlands, river frontage, hiking and snowshoe trails, and public access points. Their work is guided by partnerships with local landowners, community groups, and grant programs, and upheld by a small but skilled staff and dedicated volunteers .
GLLT also prioritizes education and community engagement, offering guided nature walks, environmental talks, family events, and special programs like homeschool outings and birding series—all designed to connect people of all ages to the land. Recent conservation milestones include a significant 237-acre easement gift at Mill Brook Pond with rich wildlife diversity, and the largest land purchase in its history—1,411 acres—further reinforcing ecological connectivity and recreational access across the region. With ongoing opportunities for volunteering, stewardship, and outdoor exploration, GLLT continues to serve as a community-driven guardian of Western Maine’s natural heritage.
